control burn

Broke up and burnt all the excess wood lying around. Planted out some sunflowers and sprinkled some poppy seed about. Watered I see that my delicate tomato seedlings must've burnt to a crisp from yesterday, which is a bit sad :( Diane has kindly given me two types of oregano and some sorrel! I've planted them out.

brick bed

Image
Watered. Bit worried about the plants in the veg bed as they're going a bit yellow. Maybe the recent cold? Anyhow, dug a little trench for the bricks and chopped off the worse of the concrete from them. I thought I'd mortar them together... But then I thought that might be too permanent, so I removed the bottom brick and then just dug them in... I will do this with the other bed too.

bricks

Popped in to water. An excellent Insole neighbour had some bricks going, so I have moved a load into the garden with an aim to create a more permanent bed. Failing that we can use them to edge the beds... Got dark whilst I was moving them, so no pics.

water and dig

Water, and then mostly just staring at the stuff to be done... But I did do some. I replanted these sweet peas along the fence. I didn't have enough canes so hopefully if they survive, they'll go up the tiny cane and then use the fence... And, excuse the mess, I put some pretty iffy borders in here, and also dug out and placed the pallets for a compost area. Hopefully I just need to screw the pallets together and it'll be done. Ideally though I'd like a thin piece of dividing wood in the middle to separate year 1 from year 2 :) And here's some pics of everything else: I put some spare came in where I planted some dahlias/bulbs, just so I don't step on them The rhubarb Peas and beans A row of radish The wool has been used! Beetroot sprouting A pepper! Some plants and things Chamomile Some more plants. I think; snap dragons, sunflower...

water

Popped in after work to water.

water

A solid water inside and , for the first time: outside! A pepper sprout had sprouted, and I planted out the rest of the herb de province. I tied up for bamboo canes to finish off the pea/bean structure, and that's about it!

puttering around

Tom out some re-ground strawberry leaves from the water tower bed. Planted some more gladioli bulbs. Put in some wood to create another bed along the wall opposite the greenhouse, and put in an old rhubarb plant I dug up from my own garden. Potted a bay leaf sprig (I removed a bayleaf tree from my garden and it had the perfect shot. Who knows if it will take though, as it looks a little tatty). Planted some seeds! Naturally, I can't remember what they were but anyway mostly they were: Foxgloves Cauliflower Cowslip Dwarf foxgloves - these hopefully should flower this year!) Californian poppy (although I think these don't like being  A bell shaped thing - flowers next year Put some of the herb de province in the herb bed Put the lettuce in the veg bed. I'm not going to eat it and I was just curious as to what would happen to it. The sweet peas have come up already, as have the dahlias.  This 👇 is a massive rock which i couldn't get out. Planted the rhubarb on top of it.....

pea canes

Image
Popped in some pea/bean canes.  Looks a little tight, so maybe next year, spread out a bit! I planted the rest of the tomato seeds, some sunflower seeds, some purple pepper seeds, some snapdragons and something else I can't remember... Tidy up a little and dug out a massive stone. More digging next week!

drop off

Picked up some canes to stake out the peas and beans, some organic peat free compost, some small pots and some seedling trays. I stripped some small bits of my home lavender and just popped it into some compost. Maybe it'll take, maybe it won't.... I gave everything a water and hopefully plant some stuff tomorrow.

smol dig

Just popped in to drop off some pots. In the pots I put some tomato seedlings that are coming up (although they are very tiny still). I played some gladioli bulbs all ing the water tower bed, and also just by the entrance. Also I hung up a seed feeder for those borbs yo.

dig

Image
Bit of sorting out, trying to tidy up the garden bit. No pictures though, coz I forgotted. :( I dug through the piles of soil, removing any stones and adding the two remaining bags of sand. There's a lot more worms this time round, which was pleasing! I added a small builders bag of leaves. Although they're not ready, I just wanted them out the way. I moved all the paving slabs over to the outside tap, and the glass panes and the gravel bags. Three of the pallets will do to make a makeshift compost area, so I've that you do next time. The other pallets I'll chop up and maybe burn as they are no good to anyone. To do: Dig out all the old grass Put in a bed in the enclove Remove all the weeds Level off the whole area (not really looking forward to that, but I think I'll see in some land cress or something, which will do until it's decided on a final layout/floorplan.  Make the compost area Maybe try and box in a veg/cut flower.bed next to the compost area Re do th...

Popped in for a small water effort after the sunny weekend. Props to Jon for doing a water on Sunday! I planted some chamomile seed - fingers crossed! Lettuce: Red onion: Tomato Herb de province Marigolds Tall peas Broad beans I also planted in a pot another little bush (I can't remember the name right now, but I've got it in my garden and the bees love it).
